 The Tree of Life Mirrors hold great meaning for me, as they relate to my life in many ways. Particularly, the Tree of Life reminds me that I have been given the opportunity to live and share my art with others. 

     This series uses decorative jewels, shells, pearls, and other media to depict ladies in various poses and styles. Each work is unique, and I hope it describes the personality of the lady in the frame.

 Working on a mirror has its challenges, as it invites the eye to see beyond the front of the jewel or shell. The Tree of Life mirrors made sense to me as life is never simply seen in one way and can be viewed differently by others, changing also with light and location. 

 I have used old frames and clock bodies to set the scene for my works. An example is ‘Nautilus,’ where I’ve used a clock frame to turn into a porthole scene of the ocean. I’ve used ocean-sourced materials, along with glass and miniature items, to create the scene. By night, the porthole is back-lit with small LED lights. 

 I collected a large number of purses from friends and ‘op shops’ that I then used either in part or in full to glamorize them further onto beautiful tiles.

 I have brought to life ordinary frames by decorating them with jewels and beads to create a meaningful or themed frame to match your favourite photo.
